Why is Supply Chain Visibility So Important?

Supply Chain Visibility is the capability to track every product and/ or goods in transit delivering a clear view of inventory activity. This impacts customer services and costs for shippers. Via inventory in motion management, proactive status updates, risk management, and limited disruptions give them full control over them both. Therefore, making supply chain management a more agile and robust process. Manufacturers and retailers can achieve this with a Supply Chain Management ERP like Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Supply Chain.   The objective of supply chain visibility is to provide meaningful insights into the functionality and motion of your inventory by integrating it with the user data. Therefore, leaving you with the most efficiently optimized supply chain.  Third Party Logistics and Supply Chain Management Providers like Trident Information Systems, help you reduce costs, customer service, and build a more robust supply chain.  Being a multi-layer process, supply chain management does come up with certain issues like   Data sharing: it becomes hard for systems to provide relevant data across all supply chain tiers, and if that is not done, problems emerge. Therefore, make sure you enable real-time visibility across all the channels.   Interruptions in Supply Chain: lack of visibility can lead to losing track of the inbound supply network and therefore making it a massive challenge to keep all aspects of the supply chain in mind. Lack of demand forecasts can lead to piling up of inventory and increasing stock holding costs.   Inability to filter the necessary data: the inability to filter out the necessary data can cause complications even further. Having data of no use and ignoring the essential data that can impose positive effects on ten overall supply chains will add up to supply chain difficulties.   Therefore, businesses need to adopt the right strategy to attain impressive supply chain visibility.  Benefits of Supply Chain Visibility  The benefits of supply chain visibility led to cost reduction, minimum wastage, and increased profit. Additionally, supply chain visibility cuts costs and impacts customer services in a positive way. There are some other benefits of supply chain management.   Increased Bottom Line of the Company:  The data extracted from RFID (radio frequency identification) and EPCIS technology are “breadcrumbs” following a product throughout the supply chain. This visibility can throw some light on the host of data and analytics while improving the bottom line.  Avoid Disruptions: knowing where a problem is about to surface gives you enough time to plan a way out. Or at least reduce the impact of disruptions. Businesses can have deep-rooted insights, strong analysis, and communication while removing the roadblocks on their way to a smooth supply chain.   Boosted Agility: With the ability to peep through every supply chain aspect can help businesses to figure-out processes slowing the chain down while making the necessary changes to boost productivity and agility regardless of circumstances.  Increased Speed: Business owners can make faster data-backed decisions with knowledge of every supply chain aspect. They no longer must wait for input to make their next move. Instead, they can investigate the matter right away and make fast decisions. The verdicts become more effective since connected aspects are taken into consideration.   Meet Customer Demands: planning inventory needs data on current demands. Supply chains need to change and evolve according to the evolving customer demands. They can achieve this with the help of supply chain consultants or a technology designed to manage supply chains, such as D365 for Supply Chain.   Negotiate Better: Visibility enables more data to manufacturers/ retailers and hence equipping them to negotiate better about a product, cost, product placement, and timing. They can master the art of negotiation knowing where to utilize the right information.  How to Gain Supply Chain Visibility   You can achieve supply chain visibility through various mediums. The most common among them is boosted awareness from the top of the supply chain to the bottom. There are some tips to help you gain supply chain transparency.   Adopt the Best Technology  Visibility is not just about having eyes on everything but accessing it anytime from anywhere. It is about ensuring that everyone in the organization can access where everything lies and what measures to take when a situation backfires. With D365 for Supply Chain, you can get visibility of moving parts within the network. From there, advanced insight can help you resolve any sort of efficiency issue.   Integrate all Supply Chain Functions  By integrating purchase, sales, logistics, inventory, production, transportation, and warehouse businesses can get real-time visibility on every aspect of the supply chain. D365 for Supply Chain is one of the few software that enables this facility while seamlessly visualizing the complete cycle of businesses throughout departments, business entities, and geographies. In addition, you can also analyze operations based on KPIs and optimize cash flow.   Upgrade Your Human Resource  Since the supply chain is a multi-faced operation, limiting your staff to just one aspect of the chain is not enough. Binding them with strict specifications can put theoretical blinds on their efficiency. Your employees are your eyes and ears; thus, they should be able to manage other aspects too. Couple them with the latest technology and relevant training.   Having supply chain visibility can transform your business to the next level. You may consider the latest Supply Chain Management Software for the same. Microsoft Dynamics 365 for the supply chain is one of the best software ones could choose. If you ever require a D365 implementation partner, you may contact Trident Information Systems.

Key Aspects of Intelligent Supply Chain Management

Developing an effective supply chain is an issue that various businesses face. Many of the difficulties show up in the shape of inventory optimization, demand forecasting, Inventory Tracking, communication, and so on. Some businesses manage their Supply Chain Operations with Supply Chain Management.   Supply Chain comprises various elements such as operations management, logistics, procurement management, etc. Having these elements integrated, businesses can successfully streamline the flow of products and services: from raw material to the final product, through the pipeline, and to the end client.   When a business is capable of designing, planning, implementing, executing, controlling, and monitoring supply chains via interlinked systems, they create value, boost their competitiveness, and get even more leverage.   Getting an intelligent supply chain can help tremendously. You can get insights into aspects you did not know existed. With such reports at hand, you will figure out how to shun unnecessary costs. Moreover, with an integrated software service such as Microsoft Dynamics, the entire organization is connected to one another. Therefore, communication becomes seamless.   You need intelligent supply chain management as your business needs to keep up with the following aspects:     Delivering Accurate Products and Services Whenever they are Needed    Many businesses might not realize but, product as a service adds up to the supply chain woes. These days, the traditional supply chain management alone is no longer responsible for manufacturing and delivering the product. Instead, it needs more coordination of parts going into products, conducting predictive maintenance, and updating software to products. To achieve this level of synchronicity, an organization needs instrumentation across a multifaceted dynamic network that usually spans the globe.    Balancing Between the Customer Service Level and Budgeting Requirements  Manufacturers face a tough time maintaining a balance between cost and services. Using a product as a service, one cannot calculate customer satisfaction effectively. It usually computes customer reports based on the number of products or services a company has sold instead of the actual performance of the same. Providing these services at any cost does not reflect their effectiveness. In addition, cutting costs by decreasing inventory can even cause some unexpected downtime and sometimes penalties. You must adopt a smart way to make a balance between customer service and budgeting requirements.   Enabling Tighter Upstream and Downstream  With a shorter product life cycle, speed and innovation are the key ingredients to thrive in the marketplace. Therefore, you need a faster and smarter collaboration across the value chain to innovate and to bring the latest market products and services to stay ahead in the competition while meeting your customer’s expectations.   The most exciting news among all these is that you can seek assistance from technologies like cloud computing, IoT, and AI, which offer real-time visibility while helping you attain these three imperatives.   An intelligent supply chain offers the following features that help your organization streamline the supply chain:   Integrated Business Planning  You can connect teams on a collaborative planning form providing real-time and transparent visibility into your business’s future and current states. You can align teams, initiatives, and strategies, use real-time data to adapt dynamically and plan effectively.   Demand Forecasting  Organizations can make better decisions with real-time data of markets, demands, services, and products. Make an amalgamation. Analyze factors impacting your business from the outside such as data available in the public domain, weather, customer spending pattern, what is popular on social media, and so on. Such data amalgamating with your company’s data lets you validate your current strategies, figure out hidden performance drivers and get a 360-degree view of future demands.   Real-Time Tracking and Tracing   Product as a service produces various complexities. Therefore, it becomes even more essential to track and trace a product and services connected to it followed by its overall journey. Be it preventing counterfeit products from going to the customer, impeding fresh food from spoilage, or ensuring product safety by confirming maintenance.   Multi-Grade Inventory Optimization    You can even increase customer satisfaction and lower costs at the same time with automated demand modeling as-well-as inventory management throughout the supply chain. You can then analyze your current data intelligently, use advanced analytics and optimize inventory, and eventually boost service levels and working capital.   Partner Integration   You can even integrate your systems with the vendor while accurately predicting fulfillment times, bringing products to the market faster, and perhaps offering more competitive pricing to the customer.   An intelligent Supply Chain Management fights supply chain woes while assisting with seamless operations. Offering unified supply chain management software, Microsoft Dynamics 365 accelerates time markets and resolves product quality issues, optimizes logistics and stock, and much more. Various organizations have to go through supply chain issues that can easily be addressed by technical advancements. However, due to certain industrial limitations and challenges, some businesses are unable to adopt technical advancements entirely.   Some businesses might fail to get real-time end-to-end stock visibility in the supply chain. Whereas outdated technology can create a shortage of business continuity when there is a disruption or any other issue. There can be an inability to adapt to the rapidly changing dynamics without a suitable supply chain management system.   Any latest technology that enables data-driven decision-making should center the strategy designing while coping with these challenges. Microsoft Dynamics 365 Intelligent Order Management is a modern and nimble, open platform that promotes businesses to do the exact thing.   Microsoft Dynamics 365 Intelligent Order Management is a robust feature that comes with an incredible fulfillment optimization engine that seamlessly manages order complexities, while also ensuring end-to-end real-time visibility into each inventory and order stream.   A survey has found out that the companies that ship products directly to the customers such as retailers, manufacturers, and distributors, face certain challenges in this area and believe in the need for digital transformation in their supply chain. An Intelligent Order Management ensures Supply Chain Resiliency, given below are some points delivering the same.   Incredible Fulfillment Optimization  There is a combination of factors causing these issues to arise such as e-commerce, marketplaces, call centers, and physical stores. Apart from this, there are a lot of fulfilling options such as distribution centers, supplier dropshipping, and logistics providers. And ultimately any location possessing inventory that allows them to pull from there to complete customer orders.    The best part of this rule-oriented and event-driven infused technology is that it allows you to connect to any of these enterprise apps via straightforward API interfaces. As a result, the companies can seamlessly connect to their current order management system such as WMS and ERP hence allowing the client to experience a better flow while keeping up with their comfort.   Robust Connectors   One of the most interesting things about the Intelligent Order Management system is that it is a standalone SaaS solution without any other D365 application dependencies. It contains an open, interoperable and modular technical construction, so your business could benefit from an expansive ecosystem of order source management systems such as online mobile applications, online e-commerce, social platform as well as brick and mortar channels.   One of the most significant uses of this program is that it allows its users to configure order intakes visually from one of the most common sources by influencing already built connectors in a no-code application while making quick integration and implementation a real thing.   ShipStation Integration   This ShipStation is a cloud-based e-commerce shipping platform specially designed to generate shipping labels. Users can automatically create labels with discounts, import e-commerce orders, send out shipping notifications, and resend shipping details to the order source. With the integration of ShipStation and Order Management, users can combine all of their orders and order sources within the same platform.   When the user receives an order while selecting Shipstation for use, they can catch real-time delivery timeline and carrier service from the ShipStation with intelligent Order Management to provide users with visibility of shipment details.   Tax Compliance  Another great feature of Intelligent Order Management is its robust tax determination and compliance. This system enables you to connect to the third-party tax engines and automate tax calculation based on the product classifications, location’s regulations, files, and remit tax payments to jurisdictions. It can automatically omit tax from exempt sales while taking care of the exception documentation. You can pick from various pre-built partner connectors, Intelligent order Management allows your organization the medium to effortlessly scale tax order compliance globally for value-added tax, sales tax, lodging and occupancy tax, seller’s use tax and consumption tax, etc.   Bottom Line   Companies that ship direct-to-customer can heighten their supply chain resiliency with end-to-end visibility into their supply chain. In an order management solution, the digital transformation part comprises a fulfillment optimization engine. Microsoft Dynamics 365 Intelligent Order Management comes up with a robust Fulfillment system. How to Create an Intelligent and Adaptable Supply Chain Management?

Before the pandemic, flexibility in the supply chain was a luxury, a differentiator. Now we realize that it may be the key between survival and failure. While we are not anticipating another event of magnitude and speed with COVID, which impacted supply chains, it can be expected that our industries will continue to revolutionize. With the right technology such as Dynamics 365 for Supply Chain, you can present yourself as a new competitor or business model, the most important thing will be to have the flexibility to navigate unknown seas.   The pandemic has undoubtedly been an event that has transformed the world. Its drastic arrival, the uncertainty it generated, and the continued speculation about what a new normal will has had us guessing the direction in which we should continue as companies. More than anything, the crisis evidenced our ability to react quickly. Those businesses that were prepared and could adapt succeeded, those who did not face the harsh reality: they are not flexible. There are various challenges that the supply chain comes across such as:     Cost Management: Costing plays a vital role in supply chain management, especially in the current era where the cost of energy, raw material, and labor has increased due to economic constraints. If the cost is not properly done, it gets hard to keep up with continuous production and providing customers with excellent quality products at affordable rates.   Unforeseen Delays: It might be easier to procure materials and products than delivering them. As one of the major and most common issues in supply chain management, you are most likely to face delayed deliveries which are going to impact your business in one way or another. You may even up deteriorate your market reputation or even worse, your customers might hop on to your competitors in search of better services.   Improper Forecasting Techniques: You cannot expect a calculator and speculation to be a comprehensive demand forecasting toolset. If you are still holding up to these stale and outdated methods, you are much likely to encounter losses. There is an urgent need to adopt a solution that offers smart and reliable tools to make demand forecasts.    Inventory Management: Lack of visibility of your inventory and being unaware of your inventory levels can cause serious obstacles. Even with the technology available, many businesses are still following outdated inventory management which often provides inaccurate data.   Beef Up Your Supply Chain with Microsoft Dynamics 365  In current scenarios, the best way to upgrade your supply chain management is to adopt a unified Supply Chain ERP Software such as Dynamics 365 for Supply Chain, it has all the flexibility and agility you need to get rid of these issues within the same environment. It is recommended to upgrade your current ERP to the cloud and reap maximum benefits. You can upgrade your Supply chain with the help of the following measures:    Get Real-Time Visibility    Visibility is as important for your business as profit. Having a disrupted information flow from one of the supply chains to another can lead to chaotic outcomes such as poor customer services, excessive investment in inventory, revenue loss, and so on. This is also known as the “bullwhip effect.” Having better data matching the actual demand and supply can reduce the bullwhip effects to a great extent. This works for both internal and external company effects.   D365 for Supply Chain is a suitable supply chain software that can extract real-time data and present it in the shape of graphical dashboards for a better simple interpretation.   Adopt Smart Inventory Management   Managing inventory is one of the most crucial tasks of all time. Adopting advanced inventory management technology can eliminate the risk of storing excess inventory, obsolescence and enhance flexibility and responsiveness. Microsoft Dynamics 365 for the supply chain offers a set of tools and data for effective inventory management. You can have first-hand smooth and effective inventory control.   Make Replenishment Strategies    Inventory replenishment is also known as stock replenishment, which refers to moving the inventory from reserve storage to primary storage and then to picking sites. Keep in mind that replenishment might refer to both raw materials as well as the product. Adopt suitable inventory replenishment methods and keep up with the balanced inventory level which is crucial to provide customer satisfaction. Get an appropriate ERP for the supply chain to make replenishment strategies. Preferably pick a unified solution to save yourself from excessive costs and technical complications.    Plan and Forecast Demand    Consider real or projected customer requirements and distribution networks to plan and forecast demands. Adopt forecasting techniques suitable for each classified product. Associate sales and operational planning to assess future demands. Spot customer demand driving factors such as promotions, discounts, product mix, etc. to strengthen future demands. Compare the actual results with the forecast to make necessary adjustments. Also, share the statistics on demand with the supplier and customers.   Optimize Inventory Management    Upgrading to a smart technology such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 to optimize inventory management, on ground level, inventory management seeks answers to three simple questions, what needs to be stocked, its quantity band, when does it needs to be ordered. Upgrading to such technology you can get better insights into your inventory using the actionable intelligence from the previous sales, supply chain, and purchasing data.   Improve Product Quality    With an increase in product complexity and the emergence of product variations, the supply chain is influenced globally. With Microsoft Dynamics 365 you can get better control and visibility into the lifecycle and evolution of the product. Automate the product release and acceptance operations and make the right people are at the right place to take orders and make modifications.   Conclusion   Being a massive operational task, supply chain management is prone to multiple challenges. However, there are suitable solutions available in the markets such as Dynamics 365 for  Supply Chain. We recommend choosing a well-experienced partner such as Trident Information Systems, one of the oldest and most renowned Supply Chain ERP Software Companies. We have been serving multiple businesses for the past 2 decades. Manufacturer unifies data and gains agility in finance and supply chain with Dynamics 365

Bel Fuse designs, manufactures, and markets electronic circuits products at 24 manufacturing locations across North America, Europe, and Asia. The company’s existing enterprise resource planning solution was highly customized and expensive to maintain, so it decided to deploy Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management. Bel Fuse unified data and can now more easily manage its supply chain operations and finance processes, gaining more agility to respond quickly to changes in the market or its suppliers. “With Dynamics 365, we save nearly USD2 million per year in IT service and support fees compared to our previous, highly customized solution.” Mark Hodkinson: Vice President of Finance for the Bel Power Solutions Group Essential step in the supply chain A typical consumer might interact with Bel Fuse products and not even know it. The manufacturer makes the components that power, protect, and connect electronic circuits in products we use every day. Bel Fuse is usually in the middle of the supply chain, relying on smaller parts from its suppliers before passing components on to the manufacturers that create finished products. Founded in 1949, the company has grown significantly in the last 20 years through acquisitions. It has seven business groups, including Bel Power Solutions, which it acquired in 2014. Bel Power Solutions makes the power conversion products for server and storage networks at large server farms and in industrial products like the power sources in hybrid electric vehicles and trains. To manage its enterprise resource planning (ERP) processes, Bel Power Solutions used a legacy version of Oracle that was highly customized and difficult to update. The version was outdated and the month-to-month costs and support for the solution were expensive. With different business units using different ERP systems, Bel Fuse wanted to find an affordable solution to unify the company’s finance and operations processes, starting with Bel Power Solutions. Bel Fuse also needed a solution that would support its material requirements planning (MRP) process, a production planning, scheduling, and inventory control system to manage its manufacturing processes. “Our MRP processing goes in both directions—we require a full dataset and forecasting of what’s coming to us and what’s going out,” says Scott Hasterlik, Director Global IT at Bel Fuse. “We have power assets with 500 components and 65,000 SKUs, so we needed a robust solution to share nonstandard information quickly.” An integrated solution for finance and operations After careful evaluation, Bel Fuse found that Microsoft Dynamics 365 had the right capabilities at the right price for the company’s needs. With Dynamics 365, Bel Fuse had a single system for the first time, the ability to report globally, and a solution that was intuitive to use and easy to add users. Bel Fuse uses Dynamics 365 Finance to automate its financial operations, monitor performance in real time, predict future outcomes, and make data-driven decisions. For operations, the company deployed Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management, which includes an MRP function and AI to improve visibility across its global supply chain and to improve manufacturing productivity. To aid the quick, seamless deployment process, Bel Fuse worked with Flintfox, a Gold competency member of the Microsoft Partner Network. “Flintfox jumped in, understood what we wanted to accomplish, and helped us move forward on budget,” says Hasterlik. “Flintfox has been a fantastic partner and is still our partner of record.” A wide range of Bel Power Solutions employees now rely on the Finance and Supply Chain Management business applications. Users include staff in customer service, quality assurance, demand and product returns, manufacturing and supply chain ordering, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and engineering. “From decision makers to factory floor managers, everyone is working in Dynamics 365, staying connected and accessing valuable data,” says Stefan Naude, General Manager, Slovakia, at Bel Fuse. Reduced costs, disparate systems eliminated Bel Fuse accomplished its central goal—to reduce the high costs of its previous ERP system while bringing data together in one solution. The company built the capacity it needed without a lot of customizations, helping ensure that the solution would stay flexible in the future. “With Dynamics 365, we save nearly USD2 million per year in IT service and support fees compared to our previous, highly customized solution,” says Mark Hodkinson, Vice President of Finance for the Bel Power Solutions Group at Bel Fuse. Bel Fuse also reduced costs because it now has the tools to fulfill more of its own finance needs internally. For example, a Bel Fuse engineering and distribution site in Italy previously paid an outside firm to do its accounting. “It was easy to move the Italy site into Dynamics 365 and transfer all that work internally to our team in Slovakia,” says Hodkinson. “Now our own team manages the facility’s day-to-day finances even though they aren’t located in Italy. With a common system, we have better access to our own internal talent.” Increased visibility and agility With Dynamics 365, Bel Fuse gained a more global view of financial data and can perform more accurate forecasting. “I always view orders and revenue from a global perspective because the locations are all connected and have so many intercompany transactions,” says Hodkinson. “I rely on Dynamics 365 to help me make sense of complex financial histories to stay on top of complicated billing and payment processes at multiple sites.” With ERP data now centralized and easy to access in the cloud, Bel Fuse can respond with more agility to complex, changing circumstances. When employees in Italy, China, and other countries needed to work from home during the COVID-19 crisis, the company was able to effectively run remote finance and supply chain operations. “We kept all our finance functions moving forward even though we don’t have anyone physically in the office,” says Hodkinson. “We were impressed that our team was able to get everything done while working from home for the first time, and I think that speaks to how intuitive Dynamics 365 Finance was for our team.” As a mid-chain supplier, Bel Fuse is committed to continuing its operations on time and not
